High-quality, durable aluminium pergolas

Aluminium roofs are not only protected from microorganisms, as their powder-coated surface does not allow moisture to pass through, but also from rain, snow and nearby plants. Only if there is a gap between the foot and the floor can it be sealed with anti-dust tape to prevent insects, moisture deposits or dust. High-quality aluminium pergolas are ideal for a variety of structural situations and garden styles and have a particularly long service life with minimal maintenance.

The roof easily withstands large hailstones and is well protected against damage caused by external forces, such as impacts with gardening tools. Since aluminium is a light metal, the weight of the self-supporting patio roof is also quite low, so ordinary foundations are completely sufficient to bear its load.

Freedom to choose where to install a metal pergola

Since free-standing pergolas – similar to gazebos or free-standing awnings – stand entirely on four poles, they do not need to be connected to the house. This makes installation much easier and gives you more freedom in choosing a suitable installation location. Instead of being mounted directly on the house, the pergola can be placed anywhere in the garden.

All you need is a solid base, such as one on a terrace, or a foundation in the garden specially cast for a metal pergola, on which to install the terrace roof. Since the poles are made of powder-coated aluminum, it does not matter if the pergola’s foundation is high enough for the feet to touch the ground on the sides. Wooden pergolas can be attacked by microorganisms present in the soil or released by nearby plants that decompose the wood. However, metal pergolas such as iron, aluminum or galvanized steel do not present this risk.

Customizable metal pergolas

The pergolas manufactured by The Welead are made entirely of powder-coated aluminum. You can choose different colors of powder coating, including graphite, tan, silver-grey, etc.

In addition to this, you can choose the color of the roof slats, regardless of the color of the free-standing support structure. You can create visually interesting and modern combinations, such as a graphite-colored slatted roof with white supports. Or, you can choose the lightest white color for the slats in order to optimally reflect the sun’s rays.

If desired, LED lighting can be integrated – either through circumferential LED strips on the inside of the slatted roof or through strips on the columns. You can also combine the two for maximum brightness. The lighting is then controlled via a radio remote control from the terrace roof.
The side walls can also provide additional protection from the sun and wind. They also improve outdoor privacy. Choose the color of the fabric as desired. You can add up to four side walls to your cantilever pergola.

Adjustable roof for changing weather

In contrast to awnings, carports and gazebos, pergolas are characterised by the fact that they do not have a continuous roof surface made of wood or aluminium. Instead, the roof consists of several aluminium slats that can be opened or closed clockwise and counterclockwise, either manually using a crank or electrically using a radio remote control. The sun protection provided by a terrace roof is similar to that of a sliding roof, but is more space-saving. For example, when the sun is scorching, you can close the slats of a freestanding canopy to provide maximum protection from UV radiation. If you do want some warm sunshine, you can open the slats again. One of the great advantages of a pergola is that you can easily adjust the slats individually.

FAQ

A freestanding pergola with a minimum size of 1×1 meter costs only $1500. Optional equipment such as LED lighting or integrated smart roofs can also affect the cost. It is recommended that you contact our professionals when configuring a freestanding metal pergola. We will match the best configuration according to your wishes and budget and update the quotation to you in a timely manner.

Powder-coated aluminum usually requires only occasional cleaning of dirt and no further work is required. However, if the aluminum surface of a freestanding patio cover is damaged – for example, a scratch extends through the paint layer all the way to the metal – you should definitely clean the problematic area first and then cover it with a touch-up paint pen. Otherwise moisture may penetrate the metal.

Yes, a foundation is required in most cases. If there is no foundation under your pergola, over time the freestanding roof may tilt as the ground yields under the load. This not only looks unsightly, but also has a negative impact on the entire statics of the patio roof.
